St. Tropez Gradual Tanner

I love trying something new that could possibly change up my morning routine and make it a little bit easier so when i saw St. Tropez had released an In Shower Tanning Lotion i knew i had to try it. When it originally came out a few months ago i picked on up in Boots for £9.99 because i didn't really want to pay full price for something that i wasn't sure it would work and i'm glad i did.

The idea behind the product is that it works like a gradual tanner but you use it in the shower and wash it off after 3 minutes. The premise is very simple, the actual use of the product isn't.  To apply it i stayed in my shower and just turned the water off as i didn't want to spill any of it outside of my shower in case of staining.

The lotion comes out quite thick, thicker than your usual lotion because it has to stick to your wet skin. Even though it is quite thick it is also quite slippery so when you wash it off or if you spill any, the bottom of your shower becomes a slipping hazard. The lotion is clear white and once you have rubbed it in, it is very hard to know how much you have applied and where. In my mind i don't understand how it could ever be streak free due to the interference from the water but ultimately that is irreverent.

The next problem i faced was once i had applied it how was i going to time 3 minutes, in the instructions there is a clear DO NOT LEAVE IT ON FOR LONGER! message but i have no clock in my bathroom so i ended up using the kitchen timer which i have brought up earlier. However to set it i had to get out of the shower, into the cold abyss, set it and then wait for the 3 minutes to end. I also used this time to wash my hands in my sink because if i had turned the shower on it would have ruined all of my hard work tanning.

After the three minutes i washed it off and showered as normal and waited for my tan to develop, i waited and i waited and eventually i realised the little bit of colour i had gained was it, there was no real tan at all. I had gone through all of that faffing just for a tiny bit of bronze. I will stick to my St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse any day which i actually find easier to apply and gives me a better colour. If i were you i won't waste my time with this product unless you are new to tanning and scared of turning too orange because this definitely won't do that. I actaully ended up giving this to my mum because she only likes a tiny bit of colour and in her words 'she likes to take the edge off of the white.' I did read reviews before i bought it but i think this a product you need to try for yourself if you are intrigued by it but i will warn you, if you are a tan fan this is bloody awful.
