For my Day 2 favourite show, I was torn between the in-your-face vivid prints at Ostwald Helgason and Tibi's easy-breezy all-natural nonchalance.
Amy Smilovic stripped everything back for SS14 at Tibi; leaving slightly awkward oversized silhouettes that just worked. Materials were natural and soft - silk, cotton and leather - whilst a black, white and soft green colour palette appeared stark and refreshing. The main lesson learned from the show? The age-old rule that if you're wearing oversized on top keep the bottom streamlined and vice-versa has been broken; baggy T-shirts look awesome and ever-so-slightly nineties (it's still there!) worn with low-slung easy-fit skirts.
Ostwald Helgason shied far, far away from simple. Prints are looking to be big for SS14 - if it's colourful and has a bit of a tropical vibe, it's there. Helgason wanted to celebrate 'the happy and beautiful things in life' and by golly she did just that! Colours clashed like crazy, with cobalt and tangerine standing out in a bold print that appeared on a silk shirt, fitted dress and the best pair of trousers I've seen in a long time. Sheer fabrics managed to look anything but tacky as harmonious bras appeared under thinly knitted tops and translucent fabrics hung over other garments.
Understated or vivacious? Which camp will you be in next Spring?
