Hello My Lovelies,
I hope you are all doing well and are having a wonderful weekend so far. This week it felt as if we had finally started to transition into the Autumn season and it honestly started to make me feel so excited for the final few months of 2016. I'm not really season bias because there are things I absolutely love about them all, including the beautiful sunshine through summer, however, there is just something so satisfying about crisp Autumn mornings, the change in the colour palette, layering up with cosy clothes, copious amounts of hot drinks and more. So, in honour of Autumn I thought I would put together a few reasons why I love it so much!
1. More Baths & Bath Bombs
I don't know about you but as the weather starts to cool down there is nothing I love more than indulging in long bubble baths. With the transition into Autumn this is the perfect time to be stocking up on all of your favourite Lush bath goodies and I recently took full advantage of this at a recent blogger event. I can't wait to share my recent Halloween and Christmas Lush haul with you and enjoy an overdue bubble bath.
2. Comfort Food & Sweet Treats
Everyone who knows me personally will understand how much I LOVE food. I mean, I have a major sweet tooth but I genuinely love comfort food too. I can't wait to prepare more warming dishes like hearty porridge, sheppards pie, stews, lots of pasta dishes (I'm Italian and we eat pasta all day everyday haha) and of course, sweet treats like apple pie, cherry crumble and more! You will all know that I've been on a health kick since the start of the year but there is no reason you can't indulge too - it's all about balance.
3. Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice
Believe it or not but I only tried my first ever Pumpkin Spice Latte last year - I was a little late jumping on the bandwagon but I am so glad that I did because they are delicious. I have always been a huge fan of cinnamon, all spice and of course, gingerbread so it was only a matter of time before I tried pumpkin spice.
4. Candles, Candles & More Candles
If you have been reading this blog for quite some time then you will know how much I love candles. I will light them all year round but as soon as Autumn hits thats when it starts to get serious. I start whipping out my cult favourites from Yankee Candles and Bath & Body Works. Candles are all rounders for me because they help create ambiance, character, mood lighting, create gorgeous aromas and of course, they come in handy for Autumn dedicated blog photography as you can see above haha.
5. Hot Drinks On Tap
I know I mentioned Pumpkin Spice Lattes already (basic, but you can't deny how amazing they are) but I thought I needed to dedicate a slot to all of my other favourite hot beverages. You all know how much I love hot chocolate but I'm talking about endless cups of tea and hot squash or cordial. I used to drink hot Ribena when I was growing up so whenever I have something similar it just brings me back to my childhood.
6. Long Crisp Walks
I love long walks in general but walks in the crisp autumn time with my little Yorkshire Terrier Bella kick things up a notch. Where I live we are very fortunate to have a Priory Marina pretty much in walking distance, so I love taking my little Bella there and it is such a joy seeing her face light up playing in all of the fallen leaves.
7. Hand Me The Remote
Not only do all of my favourite US shows start up again in the Autumn time, I'm talking about you Vampire Diaries, The Originals and Teen Wolf. BUT all my favourite UK shows start also, like the X Factor, Great British Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice and more.
8. Layer Up, It's Cold Outside
As much as I love my summer wardrobe I do love switching things up and layering up cosy knits, turtle neck tops, faux fur gilets, fuzzy socks, boots and more. Last year I literally lived in my beloved Topshop Joni Jeanes, River Island black ankle boots and New Look roll neck tops. Autumn is the time for cosy yet chic outfits.
9. Seasonal Treats
I love seasonal treats but hate the fact that they are limited edition because it makes me so sad when I can no longer get hold of something. Mr Kipling releases these gorgeous Gingerbread Whirls every year and I found out this week that they are officially back! I would definitely give them a try if you love their originals whirls but also if you are a fan of autumnal spices.
10. Changing Colours
Spring and Summer are very beautiful and vibrant but I do love it when you start to see all of the colours changing. Autumn is the perfect season to be taking beautiful scenic photos and spending time outdoors and I just adore the orange, red and golden hues of the leaves.
11. Quality Family Time
With so many holidays coming up during Autumn it is the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with family and loves ones. I work full time outside of my blog so it's not the same as when I was in school or University but there is still plenty of opportunity to partake in fun activities.
12. My Birthday
For #12 I thought it was only fitting that I included a special reason why I love the Autumn time...my Birthday! I am an Autumn baby and I was born on 12th November (the day after Leonardo Di Caprio and the same day as Ryan Gosling *queue heart eyed emoji*). I love the fact that I was born in November and not being biased in anyway (cough, maybe a little bit) it is one of the best months of the year, especially with Christmas just being around the corner and the change in season.
13. The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
What kind of Autumnal post would this be if I didn't mention Halloween and Christmas?! It does't feel quite real yet but we are only 2 weeks away from Halloween and 77 days away from Christmas - where has this year gone?! Queue my seasonal movie reel including Hocus Pocus, Elf, Santa Claus and more.
I hope you all enjoyed this autumnal inspired post - it's something I've been thinking about writing for quite some time. There are a million and one reasons why I love Autumn but thought I would share 13 of my favourites. Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and i make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!
